Connect Dynadot Domain with Wix
Table of Contents
Connecting a Dynadot domain with Wix is a 2-part integration process.
The first part requires you to Add your custom domain through Wix website while the second part is for you to Configure the DNS through Dynadot or your DNS provider.
The second part varies depending who’s hosting the DNS of your domain. But to make a long story short, you either need to add Wix DNS resource records like A record and CNAME(Pointing method) or redirect your domain to Wix name servers(DNS method).
If you’re a beginner, I recommend to use DNS method. This way, the Wix support team can help you with DNS and website concerns at the same time.
Redirecting your domain to Wix nameservers will allow them to host the DNS and easily configure it on your behalf.
But if you’re already comfortable or have a lot of experience managing the DNS on your own, then you may use the Pointing method instead.
Part 1: Add Your Custom Domain through Wix
- Go to the Domains page in your Wix account.
- Click Connect a domain you already own. Note: If you already have a domain in your account, click Add an Existing Domain, then select Connect a domain you already own.
- Select the site you want to connect your domain to and click Next.
- Enter the domain name.
- Click DNS next to Connection Method at the bottom of the page.
- Select DNS or Pointing.
- Click Confirm.
- Click Next.
Wix will display the necessary CNAME and A record or Name servers where you can point your domain name to.
Pointing method / A and CNAME

DNS method / Name servers

These are just examples, you may see different values for your account.
Part 2: Configure DNS via Dynadot or DNS provider
This part is where you need to add the A and CNAME record or redirect the domain to Wix name servers.
This can be done either directly through Dynadot or through a DNS provider where you domain points to.
Pointing method / A and CNAME
You should edit or add Wix A and CNAME records. Here are example Wix resource records:
Host Name | Type | Data |
@ (domain.com) | A | 23.236.62.147 |
www (www.domain.com) | CNAME | www170.wixdns.net |
To create an A and CNAME records, please follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Dynadot account.
- Select “My Domains” from the left-side menu bar and click “Manage Domains” in the drop-down.
- Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the “Bulk Action” button.
- Choose “DNS Settings” from the “Bulk Action” list.
- On the DNS page, select the “Dynadot DNS” setting from the top drop-down menu.
- In the “Domain Record (required)” section, select “A” from the drop-down menu and then enter your IP address in the “IP Address or Target Host” box.
- In the “Subdomain Records” section, enter “www” as the subdomain, select “CNAME” from the drop-down menu and then enter Wix CNAME value “Target Host” box.
- Press the “Save DNS” button to save your changes.
DNS method / Name servers
Redirect or point your domain to Wix name servers. Here are sample Wix name servers:
ns4.wixdns.net |
ns5.wixdns.net |
To set your name servers, please follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Dynadot account.
- Select “My Domains” from the left-side menu bar and click “Manage Domains” in the drop-down.
- Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the “Bulk Action” button.
- Choose “DNS Settings” from the “Bulk Action” list.
- On the DNS page, select the “Name Servers” setting from the top drop-down menu.
- There are two ways to set name servers:
- Select “Enter new or existing Name Servers” from your list of choices and enter Wix name servers in the provided fields.
- Press the “Save Name Server” button to save your changes.
Verify Your Domain Connection
Once you’ve updated your domain’s DNS records, return to the Domains page in your Wix account and click Verify Connection. Due to DNS propagation delay, you may not be able to verify the domain connection immediately.
DNS Propagation
All DNS changes may take up 48 hours to fully take effect online so you may not see the changes you just did in the domain name. Be patient and give it more time to propagate in the entire internet. Given that the DNS was properly configured, it’s just a matter of time before your domain connects with Wix.
Check this out if you have another domain from a third party domain registrar you wish to connect with Wix from a different 3rd-party domain registrar.
