Connecting a 3rd-party domain to Wix is a 2-part integration process.
The first part requires you to Add your custom domain through Wix website while the second part is for you to Configure the DNS through your DNS provider.
The process of configuring the DNS varies depending who’s hosting the DNS of the domain.
In a nutshell, you need to either create DNS resource records like A record and CNAME(Pointing method) or redirect your domain to Wix name servers(DNS method).
Note: I’m using the terms Pointing method and DNS method based on Wix vocabulary, but those may have different meaning for other domain providers.
My Suggestion?
If you’re a beginner, I recommend to use DNS method. This way, the Wix support team can help you with DNS and website concerns at the same time.
Redirecting your domain to Wix nameservers will allow them to host the DNS and easily configure it on your behalf.
But if you’re someone who is comfortable configuring the DNS through your preferred service provider, then Pointing method is the option for you.
Heads up: Upgrade your free site to any Premium plan before you begin. This is a Wix requirement before your site can be integrated to a custom domain name.
2. Next to the desired domain, click on the gear icon under Actions and select Name Server.
3. Click Use Custom Name Servers and enter the desired name servers in the Name Server 1 and Name Server 2 fields. Optionally, you can enter two additional external name servers in the Name Server 3 and Name Server 4 fields.
4. To accept the changes, click Save.
You can edit or reset the name servers in this area at any time.
You should edit or add Wix A and CNAME records. Example Wix resource records:
Host Name

23.236.62.147
www (www.domain.com)
CNAME
www170.wixdns.net
1. Login to your 123 Reg control panel. In the Domain names section, select the relevant domain name in the drop-down list and click on the Manage button.

Please note: You can point the root domain (example.com) by using the @ symbol instead of www. This means that people can enter example.com into their browser and be directed to your IP address, whereas entering www will mean that the user will have to enter www.example.com.
In many cases, both records are used, meaning that the user can enter either www.example.com or just example.com
6. Click on the Add new entry button to save the new record.
Note: If this record is to replace an existing record you can delete the original record by pressing the delete button.

Follow these instructions to move or change your DNS information to Wix name servers:
In a nutshell, after adding your custom domain through Wix website, you need to add Wix A and CNAME records or point the domain to Wix Name servers.
However, if your DNS provider is not listed above and you’re not sure how to do this, you may contact your domain registrar for further assistance instead.
Most of the time, Registrars can help with DNS configuration such as Adding resource records or pointing to custom name servers.
If they can’t, they will at least tell you who you need to contact whether it’s a 3rd-party DNS provider or a Reseller.
Verify Your Domain Connection
Once you’ve updated the domain’s DNS settings, return to the Domains page in your Wix account and click Verify Connection.
Due to DNS propagation delay, you may not be able to verify the domain connection immediately.
DNS Propagation
All DNS changes may take 24 – 48 hours to fully take effect across the entire internet. This delay is also known as DNS propagation.
If the DNS has been properly configured and the domain has been added successfully through Wix, it’s just a matter of time before you see the domain integrated with your Wix website.
